Mapex successfully completed its tender contract to the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) in early December, 2011, delivering four (4) Case IH Farmall 4WD 90hp tractors, four (4) Civemasa 3-disc ploughs, four (4) Civemasa 14×26 Harrows, and eight (8) Nibbi/eMak Walk-Behind Tractors with accompanying implements. RADA acts under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture in Jamaica, and is one of the Jamaican government’s vehicle to promote and help small farming across the island of Jamaica. The equipment supplied by Mapex will provide vital support to the small farmers across the country who need their lands prepared and crops reaped, but don’t have modern technology to aid in the process. Various members of the RADA team, as well as the Hon. Minister of Agriculture – Robert Montague – were present to receive the equipment during the handing-over ceremony held on the front lawn of the Minsitry of Agriculture in Kingston. Also present were many of the RADA extension officers and farmers from across the country who the equipment will actually assist. Mapex President & CEO, Josef Powell, was excited about the efforts RADA has taken toward growing the agricultural industry in Jamaica. Powell stated that “RADA’s commitment to technology and innovation are signs of a positive agricultural future, which we intend to compliment with the continued quality service of our machines and after-sales support. We look forward to working with the government of Jamaica on this – and many other projects – to aid the farmers of Jamaica.” Mapex looks forward to many bright relationships with the rural farming community.
